Updated MenB Social Media Toolkit – August 2026
Some older teenagers and new students under the of 25 are being offered the MenB vaccine in Scotland as they are at higher risk of exposure to meningococcal group B bacteria.
Meningococcal disease is a rare but serious bacterial infection that can cause meningitis and sepsis. It can spread through close contact, such as kissing or sharing drinks and vapes. Two doses of the MenB vaccine help protect against the most common strains of meningococcal group B bacteria in the UK.
To continue to raise awareness of the MenB programme, we have updated the social media toolkit with additional static and video assets as well as captions to use on your social media channels.
New assets include:
- a powerful interview with Gaynor Simpson who tells us about the impact meningitis had on her son Ross
- a video of young people telling us why they're getting the MenB vaccine
- static assets highlighting eligibility, the importance of two doses and a reminder that young people can get vaccinated anywhere in the UK.
We have also provided suggested copy for email, website and newsletters, for you to communicate directly with your audience and email footers to include in signatures.
All resources can be downloaded on the PHS Marketing Resource Centre.
Please regularly feed these social media assets into your planned activity using the hashtag #MenBVaccine. Using the campaign hashtag is important as it allows us to monitor usage, which informs future campaigns.
