RSV Vaccine Social Media Toolkit

Following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), from August 2024 NHSScotland is rolling out an RSV vaccination to protect newborns, infants and older adults.

RSV is a common and highly infectious respiratory virus that affects the breathing system. While most RSV infections are usually mild, it can cause severe illness in babies under one year of age and some older adults. For those at greatest risk, RSV can cause pneumonia and bronchiolitis, leading to complications and hospitalisation.

Fortunately, there’s now a vaccine which helps protect against RSV.

The vaccine is being offered:

  • to people aged 75 years old on and between 1 August 2024 and 31 July 2025
  • to people aged 75 to 79 years old on 1 August 2024 (born between 2 August 1944 and 31 July 1950)
  • during pregnancy.

To help raise awareness, Public Health Scotland has developed a social media toolkit with assets and suggested captions.

We would appreciate you regularly feeding these social media assets into your planned activity using the hashtag #RSVvaccineScot. Using the hashtag is important as it allows us to monitor usage, which informs future campaigns. Alt text is also available for each asset, as well as suggested content for websites.

Please feel free to share these resources with any relevant channels or networks.
