Hajj is an annual Islamic religious pilgrimage to Makkah (Mecca) in Saudi Arabia. The dates for Hajj 1447H/2026 are expected to be 25–30 May 2026. Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Makkah that can be undertaken at any time of the year.

Every year, the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issues public health recommendations and regulations to help prevent and control health threats during Hajj and Umrah. This includes information on the required and recommended vaccinations needed for entry visas.

To help raise awareness, Public Health Scotland has created a social media toolkit with assets and captions which include pre-travel health advice and links to resources aimed to help prevent illness for those travelling to Hajj and Umrah. 

All resources can be downloaded on the PHS Marketing Resource Centre.
