Cervical Screening Social Media Toolkit
Cervical Cancer Prevention Week (21- 28 January 2025) is an opportunity to raise awareness of cervical screening (smear tests).
In Scotland, cervical screening is offered to women and anyone with a cervix aged between 25 and 64 years old. It’s the best way to find out if someone is at risk of cervical cancer.
To help raise awareness of cervical screening during Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, Public Health Scotland (PHS) has created a social media toolkit. All resources can be downloaded on the PHS Marketing Resource Centre.
Please regularly feed the social media assets into your planned activity using the hashtag #CervicalScreeningScot. Using the hashtag is important as it allows us to monitor usage, which informs future campaigns.
New video - What to expect (WTE) at your cervical screening appointment
To coincide with the awareness week, we are launching a new ‘what to expect at your appointment’ video. It’s a step-by-step guide showing what will happen at a cervical screening appointment in a GP practice.
The video is available on YouTube, and it can be downloaded here for use on social media, or locally in waiting areas or other appropriate settings.
New video - Frequently asked questions (FAQ) series
We have also developed a series of short clips with a nurse practitioner who addresses some common questions about Cervical Screening. These clips are available here, and can be shared on social media.
Please share these resources with any relevant channels or networks.
Your support is much appreciated.
