Cervical Cancer Prevention Week 2026
It’s Cervical Cancer Prevention Week (19-25 January 2026) and we wanted to remind you about the resources that are available.
Cervical screening (a smear test) is offered to women and anyone with a cervix who lives in Scotland and is aged between 25 and 64 years old. It’s a quick test to check for the human papillomavirus (HPV). Cervical screening is the best way to find out if someone is at risk of cervical cancer. It can stop cervical cancer before it starts.
To help raise awareness, our social media toolkit has a range of resources that can be promoted on your channels. It includes static assets, videos, captions and alternative (alt) text. All resources and alternative text can be downloaded on the PHS Marketing Resource Centre.
The ‘what to expect at your cervical screening’ video is available in English and a range of other languages, including Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Polish, Simplified Chinese and Ukrainian, on YouTube and in the Marketing Resource Centre. FAQ videos designed for social media are also available to answer some of the common questions people have about cervical screening.
Please regularly feed the social media assets into your planned activity during the awareness week using the hashtag #CervicalCancerPreventionWeek. These resources can also be used all year round using the hashtag #CervicalScreeningScot. Using hashtags is important as it allows us to monitor usage, which informs future campaigns.
