Bowel Cancer Awareness Month 2025
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and we wanted to remind you about the Public Health Scotland (PHS) resources that are available for you to use.
The Scottish Bowel Screening Programme invites people living in Scotland aged 50 to 74 to complete the bowel screening test every two years. The test aims to pick up early signs of bowel cancer, before people have any symptoms. It can help spot cancers at an early stage, when treatment is more likely to be successful. The test is sent to people at home where it can be done in privacy and returned using the pre-paid envelope provided.
To help raise awareness of bowel screening during Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, follow the link to our social media toolkit. This toolkit provides assets, captions and alternative (alt) text for you to use and share on your social media channels. The assets have recently been resized (1080 x 1350 pixels) to meet Instagram’s new updated grid layout. All resources can be downloaded on the PHS Marketing Resource Centre.
Throughout Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, you can also follow and share content from @BowelCancerUK. There is more information including case studies available at www.getcheckedearly.org/real-stories.
Please regularly feed the social media assets into your planned activity using the hashtag #BowelScreeningScotland. In April, you can also use #BowelCancerAwarenessMonth. Using the hashtag is important as it allows us to monitor usage, which informs future campaigns.
Your support is much appreciated.
